The NPI - Stage 2 will be approximately 48km and extend from NPI - Stage 1 Landers Shute Water Treatment Plant at Eudlo to the Noosa Water Treatment Plant near Cooroy on the Sunshine Coast. For the first time, a connection will be made between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane water sources, protecting both regions from localised droughts. Please click here to visit the project website. NPI - Stage 2 is a critical link in the bulk fresh water delivery infrastructure needed to secure the region's water supply. The completed NPI (Stages 1 and 2) can transport a volume of up to 65 ML/d of treated potable water from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane or the other way. The pipeline will have bi-directional capability which means water can also be moved from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast and within the Sunshine Coast storages to where it is needed. NNA has been engaged to plan, design and construct NPI - Stage 2. The alliance is made up of KBR, Abigroup and McConnell Dowell, and LinkWater Projects as the owner-participant. Project Status On 12 February 2010, the federal government approved the project subject to conditions. This follows the Coordinator-General's evaluation of the environmental assessment process and his approval of the project in November 2009. Construction works commenced on 15 February 2010.
