Our achievements

Over the past two years, LinkWater Projects delivered four award-winning major infrastructure projects on time and on budget. Each of these projects form a critical part of the SEQ Water Grid. The safe and timely delivery of close to 200km of bulk water pipelines now means a more secure water future for SEQ's growing population of more than 2.5 million residents.

Safety

LinkWater Projects' strong commitment to a safety-focussed work front is our number one priority and underpins everything we do. It is a cultural and operational mindset we insist upon.

Past projects have proven our commitment to a robust safety and risk management system, resulting in outstanding safety results for construction. In July 2007, one of our award-winning alliances, the Southern Regional Water Pipeline Alliance, achieved 1.5 million continuous work hours without any lost time due to injury, followed by another 2.4 million hours.

This year the Toowoomba Pipeline Alliance delivered results, achieving a Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate of 1.63 (as at February 2010 following commissioning) for more than 620,000 hours. This is significantly better than the industry average of 4.0.

Giving back

Legacy projects were developed with significant involvement from communities. Close to 40 legacies have been left behind across all pipeline projects, leaving a lasting and positive benefit for the community. Legacies included:

  • Pipeliner Park in Esk - a recreational space designed and delivered by the Toowoomba Pipeline Alliance. It includes a playground, fitness stations, a barbeque area and an outdoor amphitheatre
  • Swanbank birdwatching facility - a viewing area with benches, educational signage and static binoculars to educate the community on the wildlife biodiversity and increase general environmental awareness
  • Upper Coomera development area - improved wildlife corridor in addition to creating a dog walking park area to prevent dogs entering the wildlife area
  • Quoll Study - funding for a study into the protected quoll species near Chambers Flat Road. The study was undertaken by the Queensland Wildlife Preservation Society, Brisbane Regional Environment Council
  • Creation of a cultural heritage garden at Esk State School - designed by the Yuggera group and delivered by the Toowoomba Pipeline Alliance. The garden includes bush tucker and medicinal and lifestyle plants.
